CARTE BLANCHE CALIFORNIA - OPEN SKY

A.P.C. granted Emma Le Doyen complete creative freedom to capture a selection of accessories from the Spring–Summer 2026 collection. The French photographer conceived the series in two parts. First, the open road, traveling through the American West from California to Arizona, passing through Nevada and Utah. It’s a vast, mineral landscape defined by bold colors and shifting light, echoing the restraint and precision that characterize A.P.C.’s style. Then, Los Angeles, where the focus tightens and lingers on everyday gestures.
The journey becomes a play of correspondences. Desert textures, sunburnt ochres, and the striking architecture of Las Vegas resonate with the materials and tones of the collection. Certain pieces take on an unexpected presence in these powerful settings—the silver bags, for example, finding their place against raw surfaces and oversized volumes.
“I approached the road trip instinctively, creating connections between the colors and textures of the pieces and those I encountered in the landscapes,” explains Emma Le Doyen.
In Los Angeles, the perspective shifts. The series turns its attention to bodies and mundane gestures. A young woman, a young man, observed in simple moments: car keys, a cup of coffee, tangled earphones. Ordinary scenes that, under the distinctive Californian light, take on an almost cinematic quality. The contrast comes fully into focus: West Coast ease set against the Parisian chic of A.P.C. accessories. A free interpretation of the collection, grounded in reality and guided by the rhythm of the journey.
